Slot turns down chance to coach the Netherlands

Arne Slot has reportedly declined the chance to become the next head coach of the Netherlands, according to Dutch media. The former Liverpool manager, dismissed last season, had emerged as the leading candidate to succeed Ronald Koeman, who left his post after the team’s disappointing last‑32 World Cup exit in June. Slot, however, is said to prefer continuing his career in club football and has also rejected approaches from AC Milan, Fulham and Saudi side Al Ahli.

The Dutch FA is expected to provide an update next week as the search for Koeman’s successor continues. Erik ten Hag has already ruled himself out, committing to remain technical director at FC Twente for the next two years. Peter Bosz, who guided PSV Eindhoven to the Eredivisie title and extended his contract at the end of last season, is considered another leading option. The Netherlands return to action on September 24, facing Germany in the Nations League.
